BC Cancer Agency Professional Day Speakers
All Summit Delegates are invited to participate in the value-added BC Cancer Agency Professional Education Day. Six specialty discipline groups from the BC Cancer Agency will present innovative solutions for rural and remote cancer control issues related to their own disciplines.

Our opening and Welcome Address from the BC Cancer Agency will be delivered by Dr. Susan O'Reilly.
Welcome Address - Dr. Susan O'Reilly
Susan O'Reilly, MB, FRCPC is the Vice President of Cancer Care at the British Columbia Cancer Agency.
Dr. O'Reilly is responsible for the strategic and administrative leadership for all BCCA clinical programs, clinical and related translational research, provincial Tumour Groups and provincial networks in Communities Oncology and Surgical Oncology.
Oncology Nurses Session
Discipline: Nursing Oncology
Time: Thursday June 11th, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Theme: Integrating Evidence into Everyday Practice
This 4 hour session will feature 7 presenters on various topics such as increasing cultural awareness of the aboriginal community, the impact of dementia on pain, the CAMEO program and the BC Cancer Agency Symptom Management Guidelines.

Oral Oncology Session
Discipline: Oral Oncology
Time: Thursday June 11th, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
Theme: Mobilization of the Community for Mouth Cancer Control
This 3 hour session will feature 4 presenters with presentations on the BC Oral Cancer Prevention Program - how it started and future plans; mouth cancer screening guidelines and educational strategies; a description of the creation of a mobile clinic in downtown Vancouver for providing services to high risk clients and more.

A BC Cancer Agency Perspective
This 3 1/2 hour session will feature 4 presenters with presentations focusing on online interactivity and ongoing programs using the internet for public education such as the online support groups and the upcoming children's interactive website.

Nutrition Oncology Session
Discipline: Nutrition Oncology
Time: Thursday June 11th, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
Theme: Learn, Taste and Share
This all day session starts out at the Ramada Hotel for a couple of hours and then moves on to the Civic Centre for the rest of the day. It features 7 presenters with presentations on diet and lifestyle issues related to cancer care in the North. Participants will taste delicious healthy foods for cancer prevention and share experiences and ways to provide nutrition oncology care closer to home.

Pain & Symptom Management Palliative Care
Discipline: Pain & Symptom Management Palliative Care

This all day session features a list of well-rounded presentations and speakers. Topics for this palliative care session include; Sharing Practical Experience of Building Capacity for Palliative Care in Rural Communities, Diagnosing and Managing Delirium in Palliative Care, Managing a Home Death and Advanced Care Planning.
