Summit Overview

Northern Health in Prince George, BCThe 7th National Summit on Community Cancer Control is scheduled to take place June 11 to 13, 2009 in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada. Hosted by Northern Health, under the auspices of the Canadian Association of Provincial Cancer Agencies (CAPCA), and supported by the BC Cancer Agency and the BC Cancer Foundation, the Summit theme is ‘Innovative Solutions for Rural and Remote Cancer Control Issues: Today and Tomorrow’.

On June 11, the BC Cancer Agency presents eight concurrent specialty discipline sessions. On June 12 and 13, Northern Health presents 44 dynamic presenters in six concurrent sessions, four marquee speakers, networking and social functions. Plus, delegates will be able to visit exhibitors, view the poster display, use the Internet lounge and qualify to win terrific prizes throughout the three-day meeting.

Attended by delegates and medical practitioners from all over Canada and the United States, the goal of the Summit will be to provide an interactive, inspiring, and multidisciplinary environment for communities of practice to network, share, and discuss innovative and workable solutions to common rural and community cancer control issues.

The Summit will provide participants from all areas of the continuum of cancer control who have interests in improving cancer service delivery in a community, rural and remote setting with:

  1. An understanding of workable solutions for cancer control issues
  2. New partnerships which can be used to establish communities of practice
  3. A multidisciplinary and innovative perspective which can best address rural and community service delivery challenges
  4. An awareness of potential partnerships which can be leveraged to enhance community-based cancer control
  5. An understanding of how developments in the private sector can enhance rural cancer control

of your presentation using our online form. Choose from the list of topics and themes that have been designated for this Summit. View the criteria for Abstract submission and then send us your paper.
